How do we grow up in today’s Europe? How do encounters and cultural exchanges help us become adults? How do young people find their place and assert themselves today?
Through Foreign Language, director Claire Burger invites us to share the experience of Fanny, a 17-year-old French high school student who travels to Germany as part of a language exchange. In Leipzig, she meets her exchange partner Lena, the same age as her and deeply committed to political activism. In an attempt to impress Lena, Fanny—naturally shy and withdrawn—invents a different life for herself, but soon finds herself trapped in her own lies.
Free screening, reservation required on Kino Sõprus webpage.
