We will be celebrating the birthday of Kino Sõprus in April by screening films from each decade of our cinema's history. The sixth film in the programme is Brian De Palma's "Carrie" (1976). 

Thanks to Stephen King and Brian De Palma, prom was transformed from a symbol of happiness to a violent hellscape of death. High five! Based on King’s novel, CARRIE follows wide-eyed outsider Carrie White (the incredible Sissy Spacek) as she endures the stuff of teenage girl nightmares – a public shaming by her classmates after the arrival of her first period. At home, Carrie is taunted by her mother (Piper Laurie) with religious nonsense and talk of “dirty pillows.” What’s a girl to do but transfer all that rage into telekinetic powers? With De Palma’s bag of stylized tricks and King’s knack for pulpy shocks, CARRIE is a special kind of horror masterpiece that only comes along once every 2000 years.
