Brazilian Film Week: Neighbouring Sounds
Life in a middle-class neighbourhood in present-day Recife takes an unexpected turn after the arrival of an independent private security firm. The presence of these men brings a sense of safety, but also a good deal of anxiety, to a culture which runs on fear. An artful and poignant commentary on the challenges and anxieties of contemporary urban Brazil. “Neighboring Sounds” was selected as the Brazilian submission for the 2014 Academy Awards on the “Best Foreign Language feature film” category.
Film week is organised by Embassy of Brazil in Tallinn.
